I am a food blogger who recently arrived in Vancouver from Sydney where I had been living for more than 15 years. It has been an easy transition as Sydney and Vancouver are very similar. Although I am still new to the city, I have steadily built up a list of my favourite places to eat and I continue to be amazed at what the city has to offer. There is an abundance supply of fresh seafood and produce, thanks to Vancouver's perfect location, and the immigrants to the city enrich the culinary scene that is the envy of many cities. There are many eateries waiting to be discovered if you know where to look. I look forward to receiving advice from locals in the know and sharing my dining experience with you on this website, wherever you may be.
My new stomping ground is Richmond where there are a lot of Asian, in particular, Chinese restaurants. It is a lot easier to get there now since the opening of Canada Line. I go there for work, eat and play. I appear on Fairchild Radio AM1470 Modern Deborah every 2 weeks where I cover food and restaurant events in the city and chat about interesting food topics. I go with friends when we look for a Chinese restaurant and I enjoy the hiking trails in historic Steveston where I can almost see Sydney across the ocean, on a very clear day.
Besides food, my other passion is diving - the type where you take a deep breath, tumble-turn a few times and hope that by the time you open your eyes, you are entering the water at the right angle. I currently train at the Aquatic Centre under Mr Boxi Liang, who coached the Chinese and Canadian national teams. Having started this sport so late, I am not hoping to compete professionally. I just try to compete in as many local, regional or international events as possible and my goal is to achieve my personal best every time I dive. I joined the Australian team and participated in World Master Games held in Sydney in 2009. I will be representing Canada 2014 FINA World Masters Championships held in Montreal.
